Thumbs Down Review on Photobucket
Photobucket is an app that lets you store, share and embed your photos and videos online. You can access your memories from any device, invite others to view and upload, and enjoy compression-free backup cloud storage. Way back when it started, it used to be a great place to upload your images for eBay listings.
Now Photobucket is not only harassing people with emails and insistence to be paid, it is also taking a license and selling your photos!
At TrustPilot you can find review after review that mention the same thing as this one: “Constant emails saying that my account has been deactivated. I used it once about 5 years ago now I get emails every 48 hours saying my account has been closed. Okay, I’m not paying anything so please close my account when you said you would and go away.” PB
TrustPilot has given PhotoBucket a BAD Review. The majority of the reviews left by others are 1 star reviews. Photobucket has verified the TrustPilot listing and hasn’t replied to any of the bad reviews.
On their website, PhotoBucket writes the following in their Updated Privacy Policy:
“Information on how we collect, use, store, transfer, and otherwise process your personal data, including information about the rights you grant us, including the right to the extent permitted by the laws of your region, to license or sell your Public User Uploaded Content to third parties for the scanning and processing of your Public User Uploaded Content, including extracting physical features, e.g. measurements, of your Biometric Information, solely for the purpose of artificial intelligence and machine learning training and the subsequent uses derived therefrom.”
PhotoBucket is also going to charge you money to use their service.
This not only violates Human Rights but also Copyright Laws of the land. You can learn more about licensing by reading this blog post about reading the Fine Print and licensing.
Don’t do business with PhotoBucket.
Best,
