Make the Difference You Were Born to Make from Angela Lauria

Please share this very inspirational message far and wide.

“MAKE THE DIFFERENCE YOU WERE BORN TO MAKE.” A.L.

I received this very inspirational message from a fellow artist today and I’m sharing it with you, my creative and talented friends…

How will you spend the next 90 days?
Some very wise thoughts from Angela Lauria of The Author Incubator

This is a moment we’ll remember for the rest of our lives.

You are being called to put your purpose over the panic of this present moment.

Dreamers

Wayfinders

Difference Makers

Healers

Game changers

World makers

And creators of all kinds…

how to balance art business with creatingThis is the moment you have worked for and waited for your whole life.

Shakespeare wrote King Lear, MacBeth, and Anthony and Cleopatra in 1606 when the theater industry was paralyzed because the black death
returned to the city. Sir Isaac Newton discovered Calculus in 1665 when his Cambridge University classes were cancelled because one of the last major outbreaks of the bubonic plague hit the country. In 1919, Edvard Munch painted The Scream (yup, that little painting).

In 1943, while hiding from Nazi’s Anne Frank wrote her famous Diary.  At the same time, Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir were Quarantined from life together and de Beauvoir wrote her first (and only) play by Sartre developed the concepts of Existentialism.

Did you know Freud was 82 years old when he wrote his seminal work, An Outline of Psycho-Analysis? Eighty-fricken-two!!! And you know why he wrote it?  He was in lock down with cancer – couldn’t leave his house.  That’s when he finally wrote the book that founded an industry.

Many iconic companies were forged and shaped during difficult times. Cisco was forged from Black Monday in 1987. Google and PayPal were born from the dot-com bust. Airbnb, Square, and Stripe were founded in the midst of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis.

“People can make money during the good times, but they can create legacies during times of crisis.”

I could go on and on. People can make money during the good times, but they can create legacies during times of crisis.

And not just financial legacies, emotional ones too.

How you act during this time of turmoil will change how your friends and family see you for the rest of your life. One of the first stories I remember hearing about my grandmother was how she sat on a milk crate as all their furniture was repossessed during the Great Depression when she had a new baby and my grandfather had lost his job.

My grandmother got off the crate, and got herself a job and brought their little family of 3 back up from nothing over the course of the next 18 months. A few years later my grandparents added my mom to their family.

Maybe you are happy to just scrape by through all of this, or maybe you see the opportunity in the crisis; the chance to make the difference you were born to make.

Maybe you are like me and so many of our authors who are scared SHITLESS and completely DELIGHTED at the same time. Maybe you can feel Mother Earth breathing a sigh of relief as the skies and seas clear.  Maybe you sense there is an opportunity for you to fix a broken relationship or leave a toxic job. Maybe you can feel the human race ascending as the Earth rests in tranquility.

Yes, these are scary and uncertain times for all of us; but there is a major decision to be made. Will you approach this situation from a place of fear, or a place of possibility. I encourage you to play out both scenarios… imagine your life in 3 years if you use the next 90 days to sit on your couch and freak out, or if you use the next 90 days to pour the foundation of your legacy. What could you create with 90 days of ground work?
